Privacy policy for A Dog's Life!

A Dog's Life! is developed by New European Century Projects.

Last updated: 9 October 2026

At a glance

The current version of A Dog's Life! contains no advertising, tracking or analytics tools. The developer does not sell personal data. The app’s data is used to coordinate walks and share everyday moments within the invited dog team.

Data in the app

Users can enter their dog's name, birthday and photo, the names of dog team members, walk assignments, completion status and short notes. This information is stored locally on the user's device.

iCloud and sharing

If a user enables a shared plan, the information is saved in their private Apple CloudKit database. Private CloudKit data is not visible to the app developer. The team coordinator can share access with other iCloud users. Participants with write access can view and edit the information in the shared plan. CloudKit is operated by Apple and is subject to Apple's terms and privacy policy.

To invite someone, the team coordinator enters the recipient's Apple Account email address. The address is sent to Apple CloudKit to find the correct account and grant access to the plan. The app does not send an invitation email automatically; the team coordinator sends the link to the recipient themselves.

Dog Life (version 1.3)

The private team feed stores posts with text, photos, author information and timestamps, as well as paws and the names of people who reacted. It also shows activities such as milestones, birthdays and accepted walk handovers. These data are shared with the invited dog team through Apple CloudKit, not published in a public feed. Read markers are kept on the device to indicate unseen activity.

You can delete your own posts in the app. Deleting the app from one phone does not by itself delete the shared feed from iCloud or other participants’ devices.

Notifications

With your permission, the app uses Apple’s notification services and local notifications for walk reminders, requests and photo posts. You can change notification permissions in iOS Settings.

Photos

An optional profile photo is shared with the dog team through iCloud and shown on the profile and new Dog Life posts. It can be changed or removed under Edit profile.

The app uses Apple's system photo picker. Only the photo actively selected by the user is copied into the app. The app does not have general access to the photo library. In version 1.3, you can also take a photo for a post if you grant camera permission. A photo you publish in Dog Life is shared with the dog team through iCloud.

Storage and deletion

Local information is kept until the user chooses “Start over” or deletes the app. CloudKit information is kept in the team coordinator's iCloud account until the shared plan is deleted. “Start over” removes the local connection and, if the user is the team coordinator, attempts to delete the plan from iCloud.

Disclosure

In the current version, information is not disclosed to advertisers, data brokers or analytics providers. Information in a shared plan is available to the people granted access through CloudKit sharing.

Children

A Dog's Life! is not specifically directed at children and does not knowingly collect information for advertising, profiling or tracking.

Changes to this policy

A Dog's Life! may introduce new features or a different business model in the future. If advertising, analytics, tracking or new forms of data processing are introduced, this policy and the App Store information will be updated before the changes take effect. Where required by law or Apple's rules, users will also be asked for consent.

Walk requests

Requests to take over walks include the sender, selected recipients, an optional message and replies. They are stored with the dog team’s plan. Recipients can accept or decline in the app.
